The Allouez Township Board of Trustees needs to appoint a new clerk. Please see this NOTICE for additional information [CLICK HERE.]
There will be a special meeting of the Allouez Township Board of Trustees to discuss changes to the garbage collection service provided by Waste Management, and the way Township residents are billed for this service going forward. Meeting to be held on Tuesday October 17, 2023 6:00 pm at the Community Building in Allouez.
Waste Management has announced that garbage pickup for Allouez Township customers, that currently have pick up on Fridays, will now have their garbage picked up on Tuesdays. This change will take effect on Tuesday, December 20th, 2022. Wednesday pick up will remain on Wednesday. Please help spread the word.
On Wednesday, August 10th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the Allouez Township Volunteer Fire Department welcomes everyone to attend an open house at the new fire hall (104 Second Street – Mohawk).
Effective February 28, 2022, Trudi Haataja the Allouez Township Clerk will be resigning.
The Allouez Township Board of Trustees needs to appoint a replacement who would serve until
November of 2022. The clerk’s position will be on the ballot this election cycle and a clerk will be
elected to a two (2) year term. The clerk’s position will then be on the ballot again in 2024 as it
normally would for a four (4) year term. The appointed person would be able to run for the elected
position.
If there are questions, please contact a member of the township board. Any interested individuals
should submit a letter of interest to the township board by February 10th, 2022.

Township Clerk’s Statutory Duties
• Maintains custody of all township records
• Maintains general ledger
• Prepares warrants for township checks
• Records and maintains township meeting minutes
• Keeps the township book of oaths
• Responsible for special meeting notices
• Publishes board meeting minutes (if taxable value is $82 million in 2016, annually indexed,
or a charter township)
• Keeps voter registration file and conducts elections
• Keeps township ordinance book
• Prepares financial statements
• Delivers tax certificates to supervisor and county clerk by September 30
• Must appoint a deputy
• Must post a surety bond
Each elected official, as a local legislator, should be able to:
• Demonstrate knowledge about township law (general law or charter) government
responsibilities, functions and powers
• Identify the major functions of each branch of government—local, state and federal—along
with their relationship to one another
• Communicates and listens effectively
• Utilize consensus-building techniques and motivate others to achieve desired outcomes
